GUATEMALA CITY (Reuters) – Guatemalan authorities on Wednesday stated that they had preliminary data that one Guatemalan nationwide died and one other individual from the Central American nation was injured in a collision in Southern California that killed 13 individuals.
The accident occurred on Tuesday about 10 miles north of the U.S.-Mexico border when a tractor-trailer slammed into an SUV filled with 25 adults and youngsters.
Guatemala’s international ministry stated it was working to substantiate the identities of the victims considered Guatemalan.
It added that its consulate in Los Angeles was working with native authorities, and that it had obtained calls from its consulate in New York on behalf of individuals fearing that their family members could possibly be among the many victims.
